View Full Version : Has 1.10 Whirlwind speed changed from 1.09?

I am using the speed calculator from 1.09:

Can anyone tell me if it is still good in 1.10? Have things changed, especially dual-weapon whirlwind? Thanks!

WW breakpoints are -30 and -60.

Only the weapon base speed and the IAS on it counts for WW. IAS from eq does not count.

For example: If you have a weapon that has a base speed of 10, and it has 2 Shaels on it (40% ias), you would get 10-40=-30 ias, hitting the first breakpoint.

You sure? Then, it must has changed. It was -8 and -34 from the calculator.

How much of a difference does that second break point (-60) make? Should I socket my ik maul with 2 shaels or 2 ed jewels, since it can reach the first breakpoint without any shaels.

Or should I use 2 ed/ias jewels? Since I'm on ladder these are really rare, so would it be wasting them to use on just an ik maul?

Whirlwind breakpoints.
-10 and -35 for all one-handed weapons and all swords
-10, -30, and -60 for all two-handed weapons

Dual shael that IK maul.

So what about upgraded Hone Sundan with 3 shaels?

U dont know it's base attack speed..

Upgraded Hone Sundan is a Ghost Spear, so it's base attack speed is 0. So yeah, 3 shaels take it down to the last bp.

Yes Hone Sundan with 3 Shaels reaches the -60 breakpoint since base is 0. It's one of the best WW weapons in the game, and one of the only 2 uniques in the whole game (the other is Viperfork) that can reach 8 frames per whirl.

My level 61 baba is using one in Hell now. No problems killing things in 3 player games, have only died in NM due to IM. I haven't upgraded it to elite yet, which nearly doubles it's damage since the damage on exceptional spears is so bad, and I only have 2 shaels in it, still looking for a third shael (so I only get 7 whirls) .
I have pretty average equip: LOH, IK boot, belt, helm (2 ptopaz), Black Hades (3 ptopaz), dual leech ammy. AR is a bit of a problem but War Cry solves that, and with a 2 handed weapon you can afford to use weapon switch to War Cry with dual echoing weapons.

As a comparison, a high ed, upgraded Hone Sundan does about 2x the damage of the IK maul (8 whirls vs 5), which when you remember how good the IK maul is heck of a lot of damage.

Hal, was wondering which of the two ghost spear and poleaxe would be better to use for eth botd i know both have same average damage but wondered if the less dex req the poleaxe has would make it better

thanks

Yeah, the general concensus is that the great poleaxe is better, since it takes less dex and more str; dex just adds a tiny amount of AR, and if you're not using a shield, is pretty much worthless. Str, on the other hand, will boost the damage up some, which is nice for whirlwind, since it doesn't get much.

Thanks a lot! That's all I need.
