Ok. I know im not the only one thats getting these green underlined words. I find these annoying and I want to know how to get rid of them. Some words like blizzard diablo spawn and alot of others just get underlined by 2 green lines and if you hover your mouse cursor over it a little status window pops up and gives some sort of Ad and a website. What an annoying way to advertise.
Please someone help me with this. I would really appreciate it!! :worship:
My Computer is afraid( :scared: ) of these..... "Ads" and would like to get rid of them. (Me and my comp have some telepathic connections)
What in the hell are you talking about?
They're a kind of advertisement. They can't show up unless a site specifically signs up for it. Most likely the mods are trying to get more revenue for the site.

I believe someone already brought up this problem in the past, and the general conclusion was that it was a virus on the computer of the person seeing these things since the vast majority of the people on the forums don't see those green lines.

Actually, this wan't something that happened on this site maybe a month ago in the Community Forum. A couple of us thought that this site was getting hacked because whenever certain keywords would appear in a post, it would get colored green and underlined and would link to d2legit.com
I can't find the threads anymore. Anyways, one of the mods said that they were testing it out but didn't really explain what they were doing, if they were doing anything.
Thats all I know about this.

If you don't like those ads then stop surfing with MSIE for Windows.

If you use MS Word and you type words like "sublimibal" you'll get to see all kinds of red lines.

I see the green lines, is this a penance for downloading too much pr0n?

I'm having the same problem as you. My guess is that its some sort of spyware. You get it by having something load in the background as a program, and that program underlines certain words, turning them into Hyperlinks so that when you click or put your mouse over them, an advertisement pops up that leads you to the product related to the word thats highlighted. I've ran Ad-aware and Spybot scans but both were not able to eliminate the problem. Beyond that, I dont know how to get rid of the spyware either.

Well...I don't see any green lines. So no.

I had the same problem about 6 months ago. I remove it by going to the Control Panel, then to Add/Remove. Remove whatever that you didnt install, and it most likely be one of them.

I use Mozilla and don't run into that problem. I also occasionally accidentally use IE and I still don't run into that problem. So it's probably spyware or adware and not something you download from this site.

I see the green thingy, but I'm also pretty sure that I don't have any adware or spyware thingy.

Seeing as how every single computer from all the elementary schools in my town does it, and seeing as how I don't download anything for them, I sincerely doubt it's spyware. You could always run adaware to be sure.
I'm pretty sure it's intelligent and non-instrusive ads. I'm pretty sure it's browser specific.
They don't disrupt browsing, they don't cause any problems, and since they increase ad revenue for the site, I'm all for 'em. Would you rather have popups? I mean really now...

Seems to be this technology:

In any case it looks like it's server-side stuff being done by this site, so you don't have to worry about an infected computer. Well, you do still have to worry about that if you're using Windows anything, but at least these linked-word ads aren't a symptom of a problem.

Wrong thread man!

Hmmm, interesting. I've seen them on my brother's computer, I assumed it was spyware or adware or something. How come when I run IE on my PC I don't get the green ads?
edit: If they are making money for the site, then I am all for them.

Thank You DurfBarian and thank you all who tried to help. I really appreciate it :thanks: . I was just worried if I had a virus or something :scared: , but as long as it isn't messing with my computer, I'm ok with it. Like DurfBarian said, its a server-side thing so its fine with me. :D
I also noticed that this happens to me when I'm signed on to the forums or when the background of the forums is on the blue background layout and not the red default layout. Anyways they should inform us about these things.
