the Official Druid OT threads were caused by a troll who decided to flame druids.. so we covered him in oil and started wrestling. then some moron decided to throw in a hunk of spam and there was a spamfest and thus mepersoner and unchosen decided to make natures spam brownies and the OT fest was born into this world


After NB came Pink Beavers, then Roasted Emus, Flying Camels, Powdered Snow, Sterile Rabbits (which sucked) and now Pit Party...where we are partying over strids pit

BTW, would someone write an article about how pvm blows? I am tired of reading all the whinefests articles on the front of diabloii.net about how hard pvm is, etc. They miss the point -- pvm is boring, meat is not a challenge, 1.10 is the worst balanced patch in diablo history, blah.

I agree PvM blows, but you gotta admit, druid PvM is fun. Like those druids that concentrate on one enemy at a time, and who are geared like PvP. Druid PvM is cool. But my far the best PvM druid is Summoner!!!!!!

The thought of dealing with hundreds of bloody thirsty monsters as a solo, skilled, and courageous hero sounds quite appealing. The ability to take on the demonic masses with only the clothing on your back, a few items here or there in your pocket, and maybe a friend or two along the way, sounds to be one wild adventure. Sadly, this is not the case in the antediluvian game “Diablo II” for the computer. Beyond all the polish and cheap decorum posted on it, it still dribbles into the same game made 5 years prior.

There is no variation game to game, patch to patch, and frankly version to version. Damage can be tweaked, life can be tweaked, mana, timers, etc. Everything about the game can be tweaked, but it doesn’t change the unyielding fact that it is the same game. The creatures will never devise a new strategy to take you down, they will just march at you in a straight line, surround you, and continually attack. They are slow, dumb, and do nothing remotely creative.

It’s not just the monsters that ruin the player v monster aspect of Diablo II, there is also the other monster to deal with. Yes, your teammates who never shut up. Often times lazy, often times in the way, and more often than not, makes things much harder than they need be. This harder isn’t exactly a fun harder either, more of constant frustration when your partner doesn’t listen and does his own thing, dies, and gets online PMS when you don’t give him a portal. The attitude of “do it for me” is far too common on battle net, and has been happening patch after patch.

Even when I am teamed with someone I am friends with, someone who will help, and someone who doesn’t cluster the screen with weak and useless skellies, I can’t help but feel the same old same old. There is no in battle strategy, the only real strategy is pre-planned before the character is even made, in what skills to select. Pick a spot, pick an overpowered skill, and attack over and over again. This is about all the strategy is in the game.

Thinking of it now, I have never even touched the illustrious (yet still seemingly mythical v1.10), and frankly I don’t feel I need to. I have been playing this game since day one, and the skills needed to kill my quillrats have never changed. The addition of an expansion pack was the most radical change, yet it still boiled down to the same game with new skins and different animations.

The only source of fun I have ever seen people I know get out of player versus monster is when they have to limit themselves, only using such and such items or no skills. Different variations are fun, but I don’t think I have ever liked them for the actual game play. It was more of a “I wonder if my idea will work,” a test I guess. Once the appeal of the gimmick left, so did the fun.

It seemed like the player versus monster aspect was just lacking everything. Replay value, competition, freshness, etc. Just everything about it seemed bland and dry, done it once, I’ve done it a million times, no matter what I vary or tweak. The game has probably given much more than it should have, but it seems to have run dry now.

I'm now gonna start taking bets on how long it takes to get the damned thing to work on a PC or how long before we get sick of the thing and take it back for a refund.

I'm annoyed by it. Dratted thing should just work the way its ment to, and if/whne it does't, the tech support should be easier to find/use and just plain better when you do find it :(

This happens with all the phantom posts because of the forum errors. Sometimes the posts will go through but it won't update the number for a page view until it gets the proper number of posts.


It's not like this hasn't happened a billion times already anyway on different occassions. Sometimes it will last multiple pages, other times it will only last for the current page. So we just have to wait and see.
