been gone for almost a year.. hell its been more.
stopped this game becoz i got hax0red i heard theres a new patch and decided that, hey, ill give it another shot. i mainly quit becoz game was getting really *** (omfg did u check out the cahrms they had) and pala community just wasnt quite the same.
so now im back (took me a damn while too wtf cant use hotmail omfg!) and lookin for action. gimme itam pls!?

FL's leader (John), is still around, playing a Ladder sorc I think. I think tk (neverdie, neverx, whatever his name was) plays with him. As for GH people, Aaron (gh_maraxus), quit d2 and joined the army (Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure that's what happened to him.), Dan (gh_infernal?) plays sc I think, Mike (unbroken/goldenchild?) also quit, and I now possess his accounts.

I can only hope that was even slightly helpful. :)

Yeah unfortunately the patched killed alot of veterans. The paladin community hasnt recovered from the patch from what ive seen. Ow and i believe mxr is aliveish, i saw afew of them yesterday. Btw does anyone know if mario aka atma_mxr or something around the lines of atma still plays.

Dont know about GH but AoD was kinda falling apart before 1.10.

Just a little history lesson here, clan GH is very pre, pre, all those Zealot clans like AoD, MxR, etc. (Well, maybe not "very", not totally sure, but I don't like mentioning GH with the "others". They were better, earlier on, what's more, they weren't Zealots! ;) )

Edit: Also, from what I've seen today, logging onto one of Mike's accounts, Dan still plays d2, ladder I'm sure, but he plays with another old school pally, maybe you remember Orko? So, you aren't totally alone, we can only hope. :)

Many of the veterans and old clans went down the drain with the patch and that's sad. It's funny, I think that this patch has brought more popularity to paladin then ever before but the ambiance on this forum has change a lot since the old days and not necessairly for the better I must add.

I don't want to be pessimestic or anything but I find that in days of yore, there was a lot more pallys hardcore fan than there is today. Before the 1.10 patch, paladin was an under played class because considered weak and I think it was giving it a special appeal to a certain number of people who liked the challenges of playing such a character. It was even truer in eariler patches. I think that the same could be said about necro and those are the 2 classes that recieved the most potent upgrade in the latest patch. I have a feeling that the community was knited closer then, maybe a bit to close for the taste of some that were annoyed by the " intimacy " that certain member had among themselves.

GoDs, Chris joined gods for now. Gods was a decent small clan of friends in .09 zealot craze. Only had like 8 members including me. I still use the name. now chris does. ONly like 2 original members play. But not pala.

Stiff, a bit of an update for you, something that seems to have just happened today.

It seems there's been a merger of clan GH (Which had all but died out), and a "clan", that Orko, Goldenchild, and to a lesser extent myself founded, called "XII" or The Twelth Shield. I'm not sure what's going on exactly, but any sign of a resurgence of knowledgeable pallys could only be a good thing. The channel name for this new group is Op 12Hellions.

I dunno, but check out the Necro and Druid OTs, and then you can see what I mean. I guess its just you gotta be a little more "out there" to play a necro or druid. Oh well...

Personally, I find a lot of this old school better then new school stuff ridiculous. The quality of this forum did not drop because people like me joined, more so because the few people still on these forums since the beginning don't feel like welcoming us newer people and actually think its up to you if we can be here.

First of all, by veterans we by no means at all speak of forum veterans. We are actually talking about veteran dueling (ie using your brain and at least several hotkeys). Personally, I have 12, and some others have less. The fact is that most of the veterans remaining on West aren't old forum members. And for the last part, well, what other name? I have no idea what you are talking about. I've had my very same pala since 08, so I don't know where you got this idea of "other name." Probably got it because you misunderstood "forum vet" from dueling vet.

ok i must have worded it wrong, or you are by all means misunderstanding us/me:

I'm talking about (for one single example) how all the old people who used to use sorcs in pubby games and nk and all that crap while teleporting in circles (with a cast rate of 1 :))with their *** lvl 99 act 1 merc with KB and WF and sorc's TS are now moving to the paladin characters and using the same exact strategies( BMing, oh so fun!), i am only using this (very poor) example for lack of motivation to use any others or any more.

what i'm trying to say (and probably not doing that well) is that the paladin community as i see it now isn't as polite and 'loving' as it used to be with all the people not respecting eachother like they used to. Pala pk, pally pk and all those pubby games used to say go when i played pre patch or whatever, and used to just have a mutual respect (although i have no idea where it came from, BUT that is one of the main reasons i fell in love with paladins *the community*), I have no problem with new people joining, especially you raven-hood, i've always respected your posts and views, you remind me of the people that helped me fall in love with paladins, but i can't say the same for *ALOT* of the guys i see nowadays, and i dont mean on the forums, the forums are still awesome IMHO. What i mean is just every paladin now is the same with their never ending Bad Mannered *attitudes*. I dont care about bm items in a pubby game, but its like even if i try to help someone with a strat or soemthing it's: "stfu noob i own you 1v1" or "shut up you ebay!1!!"

i really don't know where this is going or went, but i have a feeling its not at all what i'm trying to say, someone help me out? i dont' mean any offense of any kind, i'm just trying to vent some frustration ><

It seems that I have offended you with some of the comments I made previously. Well let me clarify some points here. When I am refering to the old days, I am not comparing Old school vs New school or anything remotely related. I am mainly stressing the fact that the pally class is enjoying an unknown popularity and not necessairly for the good reason. It's now trendy to play a pally as it was playing all the pre 1.10 uber builts. That, imho, is a wrong reason. I am sorry to tell but like it or not, this has in some ways diluted the posted material. Not that there never was any BS before.

That said, I see plenty of newcomers with good ideas and good questions that ought to be shared with the rest of the community. Being a veteran pally player or poster on this forum does not grant anyone any special privileges. Credibility is not given, it's earned.

As for welcoming new people to this forum, I am sorry but I fail to see a generalized attitude that percludes the integration of new members in this community.

Sorry for my original response, I misunderstood what many of you were saying. That all cleared up, isn't it a good sign of class balancing when all classes are equally popular?

Personally, I prefer games where each person usually will only associate with one or two classes or a certain class type (everquest is a great example of this, except that some people hate every class in eq and throw the game away =/, oh well, I took the eq patch and I am now nolonger addicted to a comp game), and although he or she might try them all, you don't see everyone running around with 1 character of each class... like in 1.10 d2x. Its just annoying to see a person have a perfectly equipped char of every class and have no idea what they are doing with the character because they do not put any effort/focus on this character. I think thats different though, from being upset that the paladin/druid classes are nolonger above the "sheep on b.net".

but one thing you have to remember.

Battle Hammer wasn't very popular in .09 or any previous patch.

Although some pvp builds did use it ie/ mage / liberators.

since new patch. The people are only concernted about "how much hamm. damage they do "

ask around. Everyone will say 13 k , 10 k , 15 , etc..

this pure hammer din class in .10 sprung from all of the hexers in .09. All of the hex zonz, barbs , and other people are now playing pure hammerdins and bone necros.


YES. the paladin community is split up..The .09'ers are sticking together as best they can. But the new people are all divided up in to catagories.

the BM hammerdin with 15k / teleport no skill.

the Hammerdin with noob items and hasn't a clue how to make one.

and the v/t with decent stuff. but wrong stragety's

All of these little things were usualy explained in the pala channel in .09.
But now that is no more.

now the probelm is that blizzard made a waiting room now when u log on . WhICH MESSED UP THE WHOLE CONCEPT OF A CHANNEL. THE PALADIN USWEST CHANNEL IS COMPLETLY EMPTY. THEY EVEN MADE A NIFTY TRADING CHANEL TOO. BUT NOOOOOOOOOO, NOBODY USED IT WHY? BECAUSE ALL OF THE NEW PALA WERE NEVER INVOLVED LAST PATCH. :rant:

if you invite more pala to come to channel for trading / advice and so on. We might actualy be able to make gbpal/gb palapk/pk pallypk/1 etc....

some of the old zealots from .09 were talking about making those games again and only use their .09 gear. So its like it was back in the day.

but thats a different thread about gear and so on.

but blizzard messed up a little when they made that waiting room. they didn't realize that it would be so wrong. .

I rarely look in here anymore, the posters who used to make it worthwhile are gone and the questions all seem the same to me. i believe that these, types of posts arent helpful to the paladin forum for one reason. it isolates everybody else who isnt a paladin vet. one thing is to be a paladin champion another thing is to be arrogant about it. all im saying is that there are plenty of people that have played pallys for a very long time. yet they dont know about this forum they dont go posting it around, for attention. i remember the *old days* of kazmier and vendanna, forum-wise. and under rag the forums have at least in my opinion have become more professional. i havent seen the flamewars from (tyrant?), i cant remember his full name. as for palapk, many of the people that play there have big egos. i admit i have one too and when i get destroyed i slam my fists, on the desk. to sum it all up i say. the more things change, the more they stay the same.

more significantly the patch also killed GI and 76legit, and it will end up quickening the end of d2 in general by quite a bit. not only is pvp boring now because damage scale is way too high, but also ladder season has gone on way, way too long. maybe this is what bliz wants to happen.
