Can I make a rune word in a unique item?

I have some 2 socketed unique armor. Can I amke a rune word in it or will it just give me the individual benefits of the runes?

Thanks for the quick answer I really appreciate it. If you know the unique linked mail I'm talking about... What would you put in it for a sorc.? I dont have really elite items so I was thing topazes?

You're probably talking Spirit Forge... Decent armor in my opinion.

Sockets are places where you want to shore up weaknesses in your Character. Whether it be Resistances, life, Mana, they can all be filled with minimal cost. Ex: Ort, Ral, Tal, Thul runes, Perfect Rubies or Perfect Saphires.

If you think all those stats of yours are good and your character doesn't need much more, or you're just using her to find items for other characters, then I'd go with Topaz.
