View Full Version : How Long Do You look at someone?

I'm confused about the propriety here. I mean...I guess i get the feeling that people get the wrong idea. I've just been taught that eye contact is congenial. I'm walking to class, I see a cute girl, I try to make eye contact...if it's reciprocated, you get a smile or whatever. But today, I think i put a girl ill-at ease, because i looked to long. 2-3 seconds has always been around my standby...it just felt right. But this girl had time to look away(normal), look back up...and then look away again. I dunno...i just felt like i was at fault for making her feel strange.

you make me feel strange by posting here. Go away freak.
Whats really bad is when they have stuff written where their boobs are and its real small so you try to read the writing but you can't read it cause its small so you look for a while then they think your looking at their boobs and get mad. Yeah I hate that.

Canadia, it's at a time like that that you need really good friends like mine.
Me: "What the hell is that small **** written on you shirt?"
Her: "Iunno... *pause* Gimme a sec. *takes off shirt, revealing bra and boobies* Oh, there you go. It says 'drink till she's irish'. Good enough?"
Me: "Better than enough..."
And that's just one of the examples. Sometimes, it makes me think some of my female friends might think I'm not straight.... Maybe I'm jsut too nice? Either way, I get to see boobies more than I should! :D

In oral comm we played a game wherein we had to have a conversation with someone and maintain eye contact the whole time, whoever broke it first was the loser. I guess to prove the point that different people have different comfort levels. So, yeah, I really liked that and I generally play it all the time now without letting anyone else know they're playing.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm a creep too.

Yes, i suppose i am...i guess from now on i should just show my interest by telling them telepathically. Thanks for drawing the line on harassment at eye contact.

I dont stare until they make eye contact. I just gaze and go whatever and look away.

Next time while your looking at her start to rub your nipple and lick your upper lip. Then when she flees in terror yell out "You see! before I was just trying to make polite eye contact, This is what I do to be freaky."
If she doesn't file a restraining order she's yours.
I'm the kind of person you don't want to stare at... I hate it. If I catch people staring at me, I confront them. It's probably my number one pet peeve in the world. When girls stare, it's like "WTF do you want. Take a picture, it'll last longer." And when it's a guy, my blood boils. My usual response is "You got a (insert vulgar responses here) staring problem, (add more vulgar bad words here)??"

can't say I'm shocked (psycho!) :xflash:
Some people aren't good at the differentiation between making eye contact and staring. It's part of flirting and that's an art form. It just takes practice and trial and error. Hopefully the error won't involve a restraining order, though.

Haha, you'd actually be surprised at how mellow and calm I am pretty much all the time. A *stare* just feels like an odd... challenge of sorts. Ugh, just thinking about it riles me up.

come on I dare you....
I only stare at people if I know I'm being stared at. Which doesn't happen often, or I'm just too not busy and have plenty of time to look but decide not to look.

alright...after hearing a few more arguments...maybe i was a bit harsh on ash...maybe This does make me come off as a creep. I never really thought it did...I actually never really considered it an offensible action. Is it so wrong, really, to try to acknowledge someone through looking? And i'm not talking scowling...nor even staring, i guess...just simply looking in her direction to see if she looks back. I don't know of any more feasible way to go about it.

I was joking, I assumed you were too, made me laugh
anyways, what I like to do, is if you see someone looking around, start staring at them and when they pan to you it will scare the **** out of them, its great
But today, I think i put a girl ill-at easePfft. I do that just by being in the same room. Amatuer.
What you do if you like her, is give her that good long stare, with a silly, smitten grin on your face. She'll notice. Look away. Look back at you. Rinse and repeat. Now, this is where you have to pay attention, because it's all about the opportune moment. You have to get it just right, the second before she's going to say something to you about your staring, scream out something completely odd, such as "headless clown!" or "chocolate milkshake!"
If, by the time that class rolls around tomorrow, you haven't been served with a restraining order, then there's only one thing left to do. Be prepared for the mace/pepper spray.
Or, you could continue to do your quick 2-3 second looks. Creep.
Just dont overdo it i say... a little looking is okay, but dont lock on or anything...couple seconds

Lack of pants is what makes Anakha what he is! Pants would be a violation of my personal values.
I take the bus to school, and if it just so happens ther้'s a girl i like, i stare..
and with stare i mean one of those diabolical stares..
