Greetings to all! Call me Norm. I am finally posting here after months of having my nose squished up against the glass, peering in. Many of you know me already, having played with me - Paladin of true heart, collecter of truly crappy items (no smart comments, Kat!), fearless (some might say dumb) goofball who charges in without thinking sometimes to his eternal chagrin. To all of you, thanks for taking me in.

A little background on me FYI: Kat (and Kook and John and Digger) and I go way back, to the early days of old Diablo and the cracks in the earth in Tristram (well maybe it was Diablo II) and I think she will still vouch for me even with all my faults as a D player (tell me you will, Kat! BTW nice avatar). To Kat, Kook, Louis, Mike, Kev, Wing, Mr. Cheng and everyone else I've had the good fortune to have run with, thanks again for all the help! To those of you I have yet to meet in the game, I look forward to the day when we can slay the monsters together!

Norm is my oldest D friend. We met & have been playing together for a LONG time. You will not find a more trustworthy person, & if ya' ever need to just get drunk & talk at 3 in the morning, Norm will be there for you. Also, he knows all the lyrics to all the rock-n-roll songs of the 70's & 80's. I am extremely pleased that he has finally joined us. Perhaps some of you will be able to encourage him into throwing out some of the absolute crap he has on his hundreds of mules. The guy saves everything (I thought I was a pack-rat until I met Norm).

Hey i will make this short and sweet because i dont have the time or patience to type alot with one hand. My knuckle is not broke like i thought, but it is in a splint, because i have a severly bruised tendon in my hand now.
Well we did some more talking last night, and i finally got some answers i think. She told me last night that i am the perfect boyfriend, and i have the im perfect girlfriend, and she couldnt do that to me. I didnt understand this at first but she went on to explain... I knew what she ment after she explained(im not going into that because most of it is pretty personal). And that she is doing these things because she didnt want to hurt me, and she wanted to get me away from her anyway possible. She said i shouldnt have to put up with her problems. Well, of corse i told her that that is what i am for. But if she really trully cared that she wouldnt do the crap that she did. None of what she said really got to me untill she said that "If i died today, i want you to know that i love you, and that will never change even if i dont show it, or dont act like it." I dont know wy but that really hit home. So i just told her that i have alot of thinking to do... I dont know what im going to do, or if i could ever be in a relationship with her again... But i dont really want our relationship to end like this. I would like the keep the friendship we had/have. This is the most serious relationship i have ever been in. She is the type of person I could spend everywaking moment with. Thats wy im having a hard time letting go. But maybe that would be the best for both of us. I dont know. But i would like to thank everyone for there help. It does help, if anything it help to know someone cares, and i have people to talk to. Because the one person that would understand and be able to help me the most, cause all of the problems. Ok, well im gana stop typing now. This splint is gana drive me crazy. No games for about a week.:( The one thing i had to take my mind off of things, is no gone... But anyways thanks alot for all of your help i really do apreciate it.

Btw: I did have my wrestling tourney today, but i lost 2 matches because of my hand, my coach took one look at it, took me over to the trainer at the tourney, she looked at it, and said your done for the day, go sit down. Im just glad its not broke and will be well intime for me to participate in the GAC(the big tourney at the end of the year)

Since we all know that you care for Kailen, maybe it would be better for the two of you if u can work out that you both leave off at a solid friendship. Relationships takes a lot of time, effort and understanding. That is alot to juggle around esp. as u stated "your 1st serious relationship". Sometimes being a friend and just being there for the person is the best u can get after the fact.

There is also the possibility that you two develop this bond that someday, when you and Kailen have "matured" ( not saying your not ). It's quite possible that bond of friendship can lead back for you being back in a relationship with each other.

I'm not saying that is definite, but just let her know you care very much about her, and u would rather leave off as friends, instead of loosing her totally.

Well, i thought i'd given up making irrational mistakes in HC, guess i was wrong. I was helping out some folks by teleporintg through worldstone ... teleported in a large pack of exploding guys .. which was certain doom for the sorc, and incidentally, also did in my necro, since he was wearing all the gear that my necro was (shako/skulders ...) and the sorc's merc had the shaft/gaze that my necro merc was wearing ...

mmm, been ages since I dropped by to say hi.

Not in diablo and the misfits channel unfortunately...still at home with an outdated comp for net connection, that and for some reason LoD won't recognise either my cd images nor my origional disk after my computer upgrades. Ahh well something to do over the next few days is to try and get it working (finnaly new mobo/graphics card/cpu. and finnaly I can turn on games detail setting up maximum *GRIN*).

Been bussy lately as Phur knows. New info being released for the next game I'm interested in (Guild Wars) which is planned for release 2nd half this year. Since it'll have official guild support I've been thinking of making a guild for my friends from here (GAT, Misfits, and BtK). And Phur's been made a moderator (probably to keep me in line *GRIN*) on a fan site for the games forums. I'll probably drop a line when the Beta gets announced (not for a few months at least - not yet announced), to see if anyone wants to try and get into it. Very low system requirements atm for some really amazing, smooth graphics. (PIII with a GeForce 3 runs pretty well by all reports)

New years and Xmas went reasnably good considering the death of a close friend (I now officially despise crocodiles with a vengence due to that). Family took a holiday leaving me to look after the house (Party anyone??) which was cool. Except for the phone developing problems due to lightning and the car getting defected due to a cracked windshield. As the holidays draw to a close and university starts up I should get bussy :)

Unfortunately it is most likely what you were thinking. This also hit the national news here in Australia (weeked before xmas) He and 2 of his friends were quad biking (a thing that they did every weekend) through the bush. He's a very outdoor and mud racing person so the rain and outdoors never bothered him in the slightest, so it never phased him to quickly rinse off near the river. (skip to the end if you don't want to read this as this is a reasnable detailed account of what happened. imagination is less worse than this)

Loose mud and he fell in, his two mates tried to get to him, but spotted a croc. All three turned for the bank and headed for the nearest tree. By the time the two were up it and looked back he nor the croc was nowhere to be found. I think the worst thing for them was that the croc returned 5 mins later with my friend's body. Dissapeared for a little while with the body and then stalked the other two still in the tree for the next 22 hours until they were rescued. Kudos to the police rescue team as they helecoptered in, dropped an inflateble boat into the water ands then two of them paddled to the tree with high winds, rain and an overflowed turbulent river.

They searched for his body until it had to get called off because of the rain (the river level has now risen and the tree that they 2 guys were in is now under water), and they shot what they think was the croc.

So now I despise crocodiles. One cannot simple imagine something like that happening....I've imagined being in car crashes in the like, but taken by a croc is something my mind either can't comprehend or just doesn't want to (probably the latter)

Anyways enough of that. At least now that some time has past and the memorial done, alot of people have come to grips with it, so its just an old dull ache. Another mental scar from loosing a close friend.

And thanks for the small comfort. Its appreciated.

Got no idea with the cd issue. I've never had a problem before with either the origional cd nor the cd image (runs faster due to being on the hdd), even with 1.10 installed. I'm thinking of making a second image and trying that one out. Weird to say the least. Will probably get it working sometime this week.

Well i can play diablo with my hand in a splint. And im starting to able to type pretty fast. Just gatta get used to moving my arm with my right hand instead of my rist when i type. O and the random hitting of keys with the bulking thing to..lol
I ran a baal run just for a test with my sin, and i could do it. But i dont think im gana odo much more, that might require skill...lol:D

The are a few of us who are questing in Hell, Myself, Ed, Buddy, and sometimes his wife. The time is usually 7:ish to sometime after 9:00.

I have a lvl 16 sorc (that I have no idea how to build yet, so I have only used 3 skill pts and enough stat pts for str for armor) and I am rebuilding my barb. Barb at lvl 21 now so I am getting close for anc and baal runz. I still do have my lvl 80 zon. She in act 4 starting but havn't done much yet...

Lately, I've been working on my trapsin, she's around 64 now...

So far I've max LS and DS, I have 10 pts in Shadow Master, around 8 or so in Fade.

I'm working on the syns for LS now... currently doing 2k dmg per LS bolt.


Jim, I know you have a Trap charm... just wondering what u need for it.


On saturday, I was helping a friend on a PA, with several others as well. Always some small mishap and 1 of the freshly PA'd char got killed, and it was amusing @ times... Well during all this I was able to lvl my sin's merc up a bit, which helped.

I did get a Barb PA'd up to A5 Norm... just b4 the ancients. So I will prob remake my thrower, when I get done w/ my sin. I want to lvl PsueDo_PaX up to around 75~80. Then she can start mfing Hell S/E/P - The Pit and maybe Baal.

Great game last night, in fact the best one I can remember for many years now.

@Norm, you may not remember, but I've played in a game with you and Louis before, nice to see you posting here, welcome.

@Phil, I'm normally on squeak2k2, and we are slowly making our way through hell. My hammerdin is ready for hell Diablo, and my sorc is in act 3 somewhere, but we always go back to pick up anyone who wants to join. The more the merrier. :)

Now for a question, my necro is sitting at level 53, act 4 nm, and I'm looking to trade for some gear for him. My first successful necro and a blast to play by the way. I have some fairly common stuff, tgods, bartucs, lightsaber, to trade with, and I'm wondering if it would be better to go for a homonculous, or work on acquiring pieces of trangs. I was offered trangs gloves/shield for the tgods, but I really wanted to check here first, as I don't trade much, and if I would be better served going for the homonculous, I don't want to waste trade bait on stuff I can't use. I'm also presuming that acquiring the whole trang set is not that easy. Thanks in advance.

Tera-Hertz: RIP. My sorc is blizz/hydra, and that's working fairly well. Kind of wish I'd gone hydra/orb now, but what's done is done. I prefer hydra because of the safety factor it offers... it's nice to look ahead. Of course, fireball is spammable, which is nice... but I use glacial spike as my spam skill, mostly because it freezes enemies while my hydras and blizzards smush them, and also is a synergy for blizz.

I saw your build on a dif post.

I myself have 2 sorcy's a FB / MET *haven't used in a while... and a Pure Cold / Telkx build (current MFER)

The only way my Cold build "FrosTeD_SceNe" can handle CI's is static and let my Def A2 Merc.. do the dmg. If the CI's is has other mods, like Mana Burn ... I'll switch to Chain Lightning or Lightning... depedning on the situation, so I'm not that close.

This build cannot handle The Pit that well so I have been working on a Trapsin. "PsueDo_PaX" is currently clvl 74, her baba merc is 63 iirc... and just last nite, I solo'd NM Baal to get her into Hell. When I get my merc to around 70ish... she's gonna head into the pit.

Her current gear includes:

Shako - open socket (suggestions - other than ptpz)
Skullders - open socket
Frosties
Bartucs
Ward Shield
Sander Boots
T-Gods
Rare Rings n Ammy (provide more rez and some mana)


Merc is using

6/6/20/15 Gaze Traded a KO for this 1 (was unid)
6-soc Superior Dimensional Sword (5 Orts / 1 Amn) Gonna Switch to LS when he gets more DEX.
Black Hades w/ 45 IAS ( I should have given him this armor b4 taking on NM Baal) b4 that he was wearing Venom Ward... poor guy kept dying.


EDIT - I just hate the fact after casting BoS then casting FADE... I end up slowing down. :grrr:

I guess I can pop on a few +3 F-RW charms. Already have 40 F-RW from Sanders

If you don't need more resists for your trapper, then the only thing that really makes sense in the Shako is a ptopaz... nothing you put in there can affect your trap damage, and though I suppose you could go for IAS, I doubt you need it.

My sorcy doesn't do the Pit, either... too many cold and fire immunes. However, she's having a great time doing Crypt/Mausoleum runs, which are only slightly inferior to the Pit in terms of experience and drops (one is area level 85, one is 83, can't remember which is which). More importantly, everything is a slow-moving lightning immune ;)

Sounds like a plan Phil... I'll check out the crypt / maus... it will give me something else to do than Meph runs... he's been very cheap lately.


On another note, from our Pure Game, I was lvling w/ Hakimal - he plays "Mount Olympus"... he was using his necro. I was lvling my merc, so he decided let's lvl together. So we start out in NM Council and work our way down to Meph... everything went well. Meph was still cheap, after all that running.

Then we head into Act 4 - Chaos Sanc. we clear everything, @ Diablo, things were still going well. Then all of a sudden, his life just did a massive nosedive... next thing u know... DEEDS... He wasn't sure how he got killed... to me, it seemed D's fire ring got him, even though he stated his rez was sufficient.

After gathering his gear which including parts of Trangs... he was really depressed and stated he was going back to softcore and only playing his untwinked Druid. I feel sorry for the guy... his only other char is a low baba 25'ish I think.

That trade cracked me up guys, especially when he said "oh btw I'm on Europe". The sad part is he was gonna do it. Man I feel lucky to get pgems and craft runes for anni charms better than those. You guys have some balls, LOL.

Yeah, I run Baal (lvl99) enough that I have collected a nice assortment of rares my sorc (lvl97) wants to try rolling since they changed the formula. For example, I have sucessfully pskulled a rare +2 ammy from Baal.

I logged on tonight for a few minutes, sat in channels with my old sorc Allisun talked to few people, looked at the ladder, normal stuff. I was amazed that my sin has alraedy fallen down to the 20's on her ladder, *sigh* that ghost of Lib's sin is still there.

I think it's time for a new ladder season, I think I'm ready to come back, but don't feel like doing it now because this season is still in full swing, and I have nothing to swing back with.

Well my necro is now ready to take on hell, thanks to the generosity of Phur, who hooked me up with some essential trangs pieces, especially the armor. This is my first successful necro, all summon, and I am having a blast playing him. Many many thanks to Phur. :D Playing with this necro has definately made me forget the loss of my trapper, I shall soon see how well he does in hell. I am now at 30/30 skellies/mastery, so I'm thinking he will do pretty well, at least for a good bit.

Also congrats to Louis, his sorc is now up and running. And thanks to Walt and Buddy for their, as usual, invaluable service in making things go smoothly and quickly. It is time for some more play in hell, and maybe a dclone will show up.

Neo, it is good to see you back, and if you feel the desire to join in, I and others would gladly lend whatever assistance to make it as easy as possible.

I have given a lot of thought about a ladder reset, and I think I come down on the side of favoring one. I haven't accomplished all that I would have liked in this ladder season, but I have learned how to play the various characters that are hell viable. For not having played the beta, this learning was necessary. And although I am only just now beginning to find/acquire good equipment for my characters, I am confident that I could do it much more quickly in a new ladder, and possibly make a run at one of the character ladders as well. That would be exciting for me.

Add to that an increase in the number of misfits around to play the game with, from who was here even just at the beginning of the ladder season, or maybe just an increase in people who are on at the same time as I am, and it has become a more fun and full play environment, and I think it would be a blast to start over with a big team and tackle the challenges along the way.

So all things considered, I'm in favor of a ladder reset, though it would be nice if Blizzard would try to fix any of the holes in the ladder that allow duping, maphacking, triggering, etc., that now exists. (I'm not entirely sure what all is out there, other then maphack, just using examples). But even without that, its still a lot of fun to play in a controlled environment.

Just wanted to Thank Ed, Walt, and Buddy for their help in getting my sorc up to lvl 33 (starting at lvl 20) I never played a sorc before but it definately changes at lvl 30 :D

I too am jsut figuring out how to play some of these characters. It would be interesting to see the ladder reset and how well the Misfits would do now!!

Ya, it does big time. The most boring part of a new sorc is running around beating everything cause your mana pool is still to small to be used freely. Plus at lvl 30 you get Orb!! :)

My trapsin is doing decent in Hell. I was playing for a bit w/ Phil (skunk) and a fellow Gatter Djoe.

Just did a few pit runs w/ my sin... nothing to show for it.

Then I switched to my Cold Sorcy, went after Meph for abit... best finds were a 5% BK ring and uniq Balrog Blade.

DragonEgg / EvilGollum gave me access to his accts and asked that ne gear he has be placed into the Misfit mule if there's some use or give them away to others who could benefit from them.
