Just look on d2data.net for the monster levels. Any place where the monsters have levels that are 5 levels below or above your Mercs level will do.

Mercs don't gain any more exp from being in a 8 player environment as they would in a 1 player game as far as I know.

I leveled mine at 40 in Norm baal runs.At 55 or so, just went into NM games to help people, and to get wp's that I missed before...and got Razan to 60+
though act's 3 and 4 was really good for him.

I did alot of Pit runs to get him to almost 70...where he is now.

I don't know about a might merc, but I seemed to have better luck with my Freeze merc when I levelled him to the mid-60s by soloing eldy and shenk in 8 player nm baal runs (he got more there than from the runs themselves) and after that I got him to 75 easily just by slaughtering fallen in act 1 hell ;)

The last time I was watching the xp points awarded per kill for my merc (1.10), more players in the game DOES increase the amount he gets. I watch this so I can learn when it's time to staop him from farming that area and move on to higher Mlevel opponents

Of course there's a point where it takes longer to kill for the same amount of xp/minute than with fewer players in the game.

Because your merc gets exp from you, the more people in the game, the more it gets also from your kills (not the other people in your party). Though, when your Skeletons, revives, (And yes Mad Mantis...your valued Mages) kill he also gets it from them.

Just right click on the merc, and watch his exp go as this happens.
