ok sometimes it takes like 4 or more battles for my might merc to activate.
if i rasie any skells it takes longer because they start getting the kills, but the reason i'm going to the 'easy' places is to get my army....

...so is there any trick to turning him on?

a1 outside of town. let him run around and jiggy. he'll get "turned on", then start raising the armies.

geez, I don't know exactly what does it, and I've asked around and noone really seems to know. I always just tell people that you have to "piss him off" because that's what it seems to take. Him getting knocked around a bit and knocking around a bit. Perhaps some code junkie knows.

Not that I have heard of. Although I think awhile back this question was posed here and one member came up with the theory that maybe the A2 Merc Auras are trigger activated (ie: Prayer merc doesn't activate until party as taken "x" amount of damage).

This theory sounds somewhat plausible as my prayer merc tends to activate quicker than any other type of merc I've seen. Of course there are the few times he has not activated at all...

I now have the strongest temptation to post the lyrics of "Tom Jones-Sex bomb"

~Baby you can turn me on! :teeth:

Well monkadin, this depends on the type of Merc.

When one has the Act II, III and IV Mercs the best you can do is wear some lace lingerie, lie on the bed in a daring pose and play some soft Jazz on the background. If you also have some alcoholic beverages then things really get heated up. Best way to turn on a Merc. :p

If you have the Act I Merc things get complicated. They involve leather, whips, candles and chains. I’d rather not go into that. :scared:

On a more serious note. You really can’t control it. The Merc of my Skelliemancer takes forever to turn on the aura ( ;) ). This is BEFORE I have my Skellies up, you nitwits. But the Merc of my Meleemancer almost instantly gets his Aura going ( ;) ) when he sees a pack of monsters.

Anybody been playing summoners long enough to remmber when the mercs had 2 auras and would switch at whim? That was waaaaaay more frustrating then just letting him go ape-s*** in act1. At least mercs now keep the same aura on all the time once it's on.

Sometimes it's the simple things, you know. Light a candle, wear a nice shirt.. there's so much made about being wild and exciting.. but really keeping it simple might do the trick. When the merc comes home, surprise the merc with a nice dinner. Always works..

What's that about auras?? oh.. oh yeah. I try to alter my play a little to keep him more protected until the aura goes on. That's about all I know to hope to accomplish.

...you could also send the merc flowers at work...

yea know, my merc always complains about how we never go out anymore, and all i do is want sex then off to sleep. then i say all he wants is to cuddle and talk!

*looks around....runs of wildly like homer simpson*

My HF merc needed to see charsi at first for inspiration, but after seeing Anya, it became something more serious to him.

Though, he keeps asking me if he has a shot at getting them both in mood for a little "tension reliever" session. Guess all the killing (and dying) has him needing one.

Now, it's Barry White or Barry Manilow that he keeps asking about for "mood music"

Damn Merc, wish he would HF himself now :drink:

I've always watched him to see if anything triggers this. It seems like the aura never turns on until he gets hit at least once. To test this out I guess I should have taken my merc to normal act1 and let him scrap a bit before posting this. If my theory was on-track, then his aura shouldn't turn on until I heard him yell in pain or see him flinch. It would be better if he was wearing some super-high defence armor with a Spire of Honor so the chances of him getting hit would be pretty slim.

i've been taking his armor off in act one and that seems to help a bit - also i dont cast my clay golly till after... still other than a date with charsi, cant seem to get him up faster

If you find a reliable method let me know. My current Defiance Merc seem to want to cuddle with the monsters for ten minutes before he gets turned on.

Actually, while your approach will probably work with Act II and III mercs--and even Act V--I've found that Act IV mercs require a bit more work. They tend to be kind of spacey... almost like they're not really there... so you have to do something really unusual to get their attention.

i was gonna comment on the Act IV merc thing but i thought it better just to leave it alone and not risk angering the mantis......

My ******** merc, has gotten into singing "Do you really want to hurt me" as he goes into battle now.

Imagine having Boy George as your merc's inspiration. :stoned:

With my might merc I go to Act 1 Cold Plains to activate his aura and raise my minions. Before I have 2 skeleton warriors up his aura is active.

But then again he loves to use his 750 damage ogre axe (2000 max dam without aura) 4200 dam with aura, throw in knock back and he loves to tangle it up..............lol.
