I had just reached Baal, and was over the moon that I got so far without dying, Baal sent his first pack of minions...no problems, Baal sends his second pack...slight problems with poisen but nothing a antidote could solve, Baal sent out his third pack, killed all but the unique council member, while i was attacking him, a couple bolts of Lightning hit me, and I was dry roasted :(.

Ah well, I was on the ladder, at least for a little while :)

I used Lightning Fury for the first four waves. When the Minions of Destruction poped, I went to Charged Strike. 8 Players in game, Battle Orders, Druid Oak, resists all 75, 52% Blocking, Level 70 Defiance Mercenary. My life was 1138. I usually do fine in melee.

A Minion Stun Locked/Poisoned me and I smashed the potion buttons. I spent .7 seconds too long in a panic. I hit ESC - Down Arrow - Enter and died somewhere before hitting enter.

Cause of demise: Things were going well, a sorc and assasin had just rushed all the way through hell, even beat the ancients, did a few baal runs, it was all well. Now, I thought I could take the Hell Forge, so I cleared the area, got to Hephasto, noticed he had Holy Freeze + was Lightning enhanced, my resistances was maxed so this wasn't a problem, what i didn't notice was the 'extra strong' mod....2 hits = your deeds will be remembered.

Cause of demise: I was with my friend necro in Arcane Sanctuary I Cloak of Shadow to blind enemy then charge in to pick up those centaurs one at a time. Those thingy that spams firewall and metor were blind too. There were like 35 skellies with mage everything's cool until he spams Amplify damage and for somereason he backs away. Before I knew it I was dead not sure how. Kind of stupid on my part too. :lol: I didn't feel too sad I like to make assassins anyway. :D

Cause of demise: my own stupidity. got bored with meph / baal runs in nm and wanted to find a 4os monarch. did ok clearing out level 1 and then encountered some archers on level 2 that cursed me and killed me and my merc in about six nanoseconds. note to self: don't tool around in hell in the low 70s sporting 4 ptopaz armor, nagel, chancies, etc etc. Didn't lose much except for a res all GC and a couple nice circlets.

Here was me. Doing 6k Hammers Easilly in hell. Even did ancients with a sorc and that was pretty easy. So here was a friend who wanted to do his forge and needed help, and I was like OK. So we go exploring, killing everything. And Right as I was killing Hephasto at about 10 hp left he took about 1/3 of my life away, and I didnt have time to run away and he exploded in my face killing me and by merc. I regret missing my spirit shield with 60% resistance all. And my amulet with +2 to offensive skills, 28% resistance all, 18 mf :clap: Heck, If i remembered to loot I woulda had it all back. Just remember to LOOT ALWAYS!

Sigh, Off to remake my paladin again :(

I was being sloppy and should have leveled up more before exploring Act 4 more and certainly had no business wandering around with full MF gear there. My skelliemancer was sitting in town in the same game and was able to loot the MF gear the hammerdin was wearing. What was I thinking, wandering around A4 NM at level 47 without good resists? Cause of demise: I was doing a solo killing-anything-I-see run, just looking for a 4 socket polearm for Insight, and I made my way into the Abbadon. I got 75% deep into the map when I turned the corner and got amped by a Succubus, and then fired on by two groups of archers, one being a unique group. Her death was instant and painless, and I'm only mad because I was going to put her on the shelf and strip her charms, she had some nice res and vita charms..

i really shouldn't have been playing, since i was lacking sleep, but i was. usual e/s/p run. when i killed shenk, there was still an imp pack nearby that didnt die to shenk's explosion. my traps kept hitting them, and when i was heading to the wp, the almost dead cefe boss decided that it was a good time to teleport beside me. insta death, because i was wearing my ~400 mf gear with around 10 res in both cold and fire.

Was doing a quick cow run on a whim and noticed that I kept getting a couple strange time warps where suddenly my character will appear where she's already been. Having died soon after this happened once I thought, "I'd better get out of this game before I die." Then I thought "I should really kill that big pack of cows."

Should have gone with the first thought. About 10 seconds later my screen cuts from me in a nice patch of open green surrounded by a few piles of gold and some useless items to me, somewhere else, surrounded by cows. Dead.

Cause of Demise: I had just finished up moving a whole bunch of items around on the character, and she was finally pretty well suited up. I'd given her a pair of Cunning claws, and some Shadow claws on switch, she had a Duriel's Shell, Gloom's Trap belt, Nat's Boots, some Frosties, a rare circlet with some mana on it, and decent jewelry (some kind soul had given me a Nokozan!).

Well, I had finished with normal Baal runs for the time being, and figured that I'd start my way towards getting to NM Act 2 so that I could get my Holy Freeze mercenary going. Everything was going great. With the +skills from the claws, she was cutting through NM with ease. Resists were pretty low, and I was aware of that. I had Fade, but I was really enjoying the level 7 Burst of Speed.

Well, got to Tristram, and again, everything was going fine, until Griswold started limping my way. I tossed some Fireblasts at him, and he fell down dead. Then about a half second later, I hear the sound of getting cursed, followed by seeing my red go from full to zero. Deeds. Stared at the screen for a few seconds, blinked, "But... how?" I said to myself out loud.

Anyway, I didn't lose anything priceless, so I'll just rebuild. I'm thinking of finding a good C/S guide for a trapper, since C/C is just too risky for hardcore. We all know that all the guides are written for softies anyway!

So, after cruising, well, no, slugging my way through acts 1, 2 and 3, I cleaned travincal (yeah, those bastard are a pain) and then went back for the Ruined Temple. The Ruined Temple and its temply friends are what HC people like to call our own variant of Russian Roulette, and this proved to be the bullet. I didn't have my valk out as she was poisoned to death in Travincal, went down, and within a second my amazone was dead on the floor. Turned out there was an extra strong cursed might enchanted boss pack of those dam battlemaidens standing right next to the entry. I didnt even get to see it happen as I was pretty much dead before the load-out was over. Mmm, well, wasn't really much I could have done about it, its just one of those things that happen once in a while. But I have, definately, come to a conclusion about Guided Arrow.

DONT MAX IT ITS A WASTE OF POINTS. I swear, A FRIGGIN WASTE OF FRIGGIN POINTS ITS TEH SUK YOU HEAR ME TEH SUCK.

Now that we've come to this not-so-surprising conclusion, we're done with this subject. I'll go on and make a spearzon in heavy armor now because I simply love the look.

Cause of demise: Well, I'd been terrorizing a few games since this morning, and had managed to acquire a few ears, including a level 35 sorceress. I've never had a tremendous amount of success with PKing, so that was a pretty big deal to me, I guess.

Anyway, I was feeling particularly adventurous and decided to join a Baal run game with seven or so characters all between about 30 and 45. I hostiled, and they all started playing the name-calling game. There were a couple of paladins that looked like they might have given me some trouble, but no one moved out of town. After a while, one of them got fed up and decided to come back with a level 75 lightning trapper. There was a lot more name calling for their part. For some reason they thought I was a "noob" because I wouldn't fight the trapper who had 50 levels on me. I shrugged it off and decided to just wait and see what happened. At the very least, I wanted to piss off the trapper by forcing her to stay in the game, thereby preventing her other character from benefitting from the run. Yeah, that'll teach her!

Well, the run finished up, and everyone left, except for this level 43 assassin. I figured she must have been kicking around down in the throne room or fighting Baal, so I thought I'd go for it. I kind of figured that she'd leave by the time I got there from WS2, but to my surprise, she was in the chamber trying to take on Baal.

There were some lightning sentries up and firing. I dodged the first round, but the second few shots hit me and took me down to about half life, and then to far less. My kicksin was mostly outfitted for damage output and not so much for damage absorption. Life was 549 with 10 in lightning resistance, very low, I know. This was going bad. I jammed keys 1 through 4, but I hadn't bothered to mule any purples over, so all I was drinking was greater healing potions.

Turned out they weren't enough. A couple shots later and I was dead, and the trapsin was typing "gg."

The only thing of real value lost was the Angelic ammy, but I'll find another one of those soon enough. The other items I lost would be pretty easy to find again or trade for, so I don't feel hard done from the loss. I had my kicks, so to speak, and if I remake, maybe I'll consider using her to fight off pally PKs in the sewers.

I was gettting help from someone in act 4, lvl 90 hammerdin... he was going through the chaos sanc. and he said " dont come in till i say 1" then after abut 2 mins he says 1, and i go in and the instant im in there theres like every monster in the level there and i get ganked. 1k to 0 life in like .2 seconds.

im calling this a pvp and pvm cause monsters killed me but the guy did it intentionally, then he spammed lol and left.

this is the second 60+ character i lost to stupid tppks and set-ups im getting a lil pissed now.

Then some dude lured the last of Baals minions to me. For some reason the other people didnt kill the minions while he was luring em. I didnt think it would be anything serious and I just tried to run away. It didnt work though, they killed me in 3-4 hits(I didnt have rejuvs because I had drunk them all earlier to counter the poison draining all my life). Good think it happened at such a low level, next time Ill be more careful and Save & Exit as soon as anything dangerous is about to happen.

Cause of Demise: So I'm in the Throne and everything's going fine. I've done this hundreds of times before. The monster mix was Vampires & Dolls. Obviously there was some third monster, but either I'm forgetting it already, or I just didn't stumble across it down there.

Now, the dolls are really the only thing I get jittery about. I've got 1250 life, 85% fire resistance, 10% PDR and 15% fire absorb, but those little monsters can still take a good chunk out of my life if they pop next to me. So I'm thinking to myself "You can still die if the dolls get to you." So I'm being really cautious and doing the creeping barrage of traps very slowly as I make my way into the main throne room. Baal starts laughing and the minions start coming. I cast CoS on the first guys and my traps wipe them out pretty quickly. Too quickly. I'm worried that CoS won't be ready to cast again for the second wave, and that concerns me because the mummies can resurrect the dolls.

The second wave spawns and I hit CoS. Nothing happens, it's still in effect from the last time I casted it. Bam, my life goes down to about 2/3, and I think to myself "****, that was not cool." I back off a little and head over to the right, by the pillar. The traps are firing and mopping up the last of the minions.

Deeds.

I assume it was a doll explosion, but I didn't see any near me, so who knows.

Oneirogen was by far my favourite and coolest character. I rebuilt her twice to get her just perfect. Lost a number of good items: 39 Heart of the Oak (my first ever), 15% ed Spirit Monarch, "Um" Shako, 198% ed Tgods, 20 dex Raven, 15/15 Assassin torch (my first and only torch, thus far), and a few other things that are more readily replaceable, but gone all the same.

Oddly, I feel kind of peaceful about it. I guess I've just been playing hardcore for long enough to not mind any longer.

I'll probably take some time off to do something else. Maybe I'll reinstall WC3 and play some custom maps. Autumn Crossing is fun. With any luck I'll be getting that electric guitar soon...

Cause of demise: I was looking for a sharkskin belt for the caster belt recepy and apparently Griswold wasnt too happy about it. So while i was in trist killing all the unique monsters i finally got to him. I wasnt worried because i had pretty good resists. I didnt notice he was fire enhanted and i didnt think it would be a big deal that he cast amplify damage on me because my merc did the tanking. I was wrong. When he died, his corpse explosion ripped through my 600 life pool, my 65-70 fire resist and my poor 35% energy shield in one big kaboom. I guess I was JUST inside the radius of the explosion.

The good thing is that my mind has changed now and i dont get angry anymore when my characters die. I just make new ones >_<

Cause of demise: Another soul lost to tppk script mofos. So I was baaling for a while in private party until everyone left one by one, made few countess runs and when I saw another public baal game again I decided to join. There was full party together, and everyone was already in throne so I went there also. We were making our way to the baals room, killing monsters with the whole party until I hear hostile sound, first I lost 95% of my life...everyone had disappeared somewhere and then I died. Right after I died the tppk:rs script had an automatic text containing something like "HAHAHAH I PWNED Nature-FREAK!" and he instantly left the game.
It looked like a gang rape to me, why was I the only one who died ? After that everyone went back there and continued the run. :mad:

Oh and the pk:s name was Wind-Vodka...wind druid I guess.

Well, of course, me being the Sorceress, I got pushed into it. No bo, nothing... So I'm a little risk-taker? Then I get a lag spike. I retreat back up the leg and boom! I'm right in the middle of another specter pack. One thousand-one, Oak goes down. One thosand-two, deeds.

Nothing of any real value was lost, spirit sword, Pcrown, Smoke, Rhyme. This guy was 100% untwinked. All in all he had pretty good run, but it could have ended better.:sad2:

Cause of demise: MF envy. Running, not even tele'ing thru Highlands, with merc trailing as usual, I encountered a pack of 'Undead Aura Enchanted Magic Resistant, IFire, IPoison Vile Lancers' who were hopped up on crack. Battle took less then a second.

Lessons learned: 1) If you meet and defeat one crazy pack of monsters, there are probably others nearby; I had finished off a similar pack 15 seconds earlier. 2) Leveling a 60 Sorc while carrying 190 MF is not a good idea. I had sacrificed resists for MF, and was using a Millebrela's shield instead of an all resist shield that was in my inventory.

Lost 36 chancies and Leaf.

Cause of demise: Was helping out a random dude with ancients when a level 59 druid joined and hostiled. We'd just finally found the arreat summit and after trying to wait him out for a few minutes decided to go ahead anyway. The way from the waypoint was very far and I knew that we'd have time. We went for it. My mistake was using decrep, which was safer and slower, as opposed to the amp I should have used, which woulda been much faster. Just as the last one was dropping, I see the red marker on my screen. 0.5 second later, I was dead. 1.4 health, 1.3k bone armor, 90/75/75/75 + lightning and fire absorb. Gone in a blink. It was a merc kill as I understand it. His merc had 12k damage.

I'd allowed the guy I was helping to loot, but he left when the pker attacked. Lost full Trangs, dwarf star, wisp projector, 2 summoning gcs, and assorted nice charms, let alone what my merc was wearing.

That was my highest char, lost all runes with it, some gems plus a 7 mf charm, a good gheeds that I had adquired today (courtesy of mephisto), a bonehew, two socketed bows that would be worth at least um together, and some very good equipment on him, I think I'll cease playing d2 for a while... like for a day or two.. :tongue:

Walking into Lost City, almost immediately come upon the wp and the way to Valley of the Snakes. Go into Claw Viper Temple and my Valk goes and picks a fight with a boss Unraveler thing + skellies...no biggie but that draws the attention of an Extra Strong Lightning Enchanted Fire Enchanted viper. My valk dies almost immediately to the snakes, so I cast another and a decoy...down they go...I TP out when I get low on room, and get ready for some fancy decoy/valk footwork to find a safer spot within the Temple (I've done this many times before, but on Expansion with 1400 HP). Figuring the tp would be hot, I go into the Temple from the original stairway...well...all the minions were near the tp, but the boss was by the stairs...his one hit probably took me down to about 1 hp, and the resulting charged bolt from my valkarie hitting him killed me before I was out of the stun from charge.

But really...a cold immune viper, fire immune from the fire enchanted, extra strong to pwn a valk, lightning enchanted to ensure no tanking is possible...that would have been one long ugly fight..

And I STILL haven't gotten to Fangskin, who would probably kill me by looking at me hard.

Leveling slowly solo due to my paranoia about PKing. Was taking it slow, through to ancients, gearing up for a mighty battle, when I decide a small excursion into the Icy cellar looks good (Found it before waypoing or exit) I step down, and am greeted by a small pack (4 or so) of Champion/Fanatic mixed breed of those bastard stygian dolls. I see my army engage, and decide to walk about a bit. Bad idea, I attract a boss group of vipers, didnt have time to see what their boss was, when im flanked by a new group of champion stygian dolls, I try to run, but my cold resists being at 54, (fire and light max with a little stack) im slowed (no Cannot be Frozen unfortunately), I try to reposition out of the path of the vipers cold spears, Feeding my merc and myself Big Purples, when one of those bastard dolls pops, and its all deeds. To make it short, I decided to mf travi for mid-level runes, I was killing everything easily without even loosing any hp, I got cursed by Ismail Vilehand, nothing to worry there, killed him, then out of nowhere comes Geleb Flamefinger running like hell just to reach my hammers, It was one shot kill, even with 900 hp, there was some lightning bolts, I guess he was FELE bugged, perhaps even multiple shot, if that is possible, :cry: I lost my only spirits and some good gear including my recently adquired Guardian angel (gift from friend), It was so instant, I think my friend will be very pissed with me, it's the third char that he helps just to die in a evil way.
I can't seem to be able to make a MFer without him dying in some diabolic way :sad2: , this is the fourth MFer that dies and the second go at hammerdin.

I just got all stuff on my druid, ss, eni, mara, hoto etc.. and there I was doing duriel in act 4 and one sorc joined the game, I pp'd him and he helped me with duriel after that we went to arreat summit to kill the ancients, 2 of them were cold immunes and he was cold soso, I had max res and over 1k absorb, after non-cold immune ancient died I started to tank the other 2 and I was shooting tornados at them, and I forgot to follow the sorc and then BOOm! dead, she had beed shooting me but there was so much action going on that I didnt see that, and I would also like to thank our great friend Madawc who had conviction which helped that sorc

Looking for goodies in pit. I entered the 2nd lvl and found cursed lightning immune archers. Could not see monsters, traps did not work and merc and SM took vacation. Got cursed with amplify damage and took 3 quick arrows. My 2k life dropped to 0.

I should have used better shield and better block, cast Cos and taken a potion. Also, needed to improve keyboard mapping to make skills easier to access.

When meeting Diablo, my plan was basically to tele on top of him, static him, while he toasts the merc and Blizzard away the rest from distance, while evading his spells. Things went wrong ... terrible wrong. Diablo showed no interest for my merc and gave me a warm and pink welcome. I could see me life melt away fast and wanted to tele out to remove his life with Blizzards from distance, but ... I had no mana. My e-shield had drained me empty and was collapsed and in panic I hit the numbers for some rejuv out of my belt. I hit mana twice and antidote, but not the so much needed rejuv and got deeds.

I was doing Baal runs with my Sorc (Lvl. 80) and my Hammedin using two computers at the same time. I had done a couple of them before and decided to go for a last one before going to bed. So I made it to the Throne and suddenly got into some kind of lag. I was attacked by Succubi so I unfortunately decided to run right into them to start spawning hammers. They went down but like one second after beeing hit when suddenly the red screen appeared "Cali_Hard was slain by..." you can guess what ...by an Undead Stygian Doll (or a couple of them)... that had ran into my hammers before I even could react.
And than I did the worst thing of the day:
Shocked as I was, I did as the screen was telling me...press ESCAPE...before my Sorc got there ...and of course I lost besides life my nice stuff as well.
However, following the heroic family tradition, Cali_IIhard has raised from the ashes of his dead father to succeed him in saving the world from evil...or whatsoever (-;

Was messing around with my rather untwinked Light sorc when I decided to see how she held up in Hell. As expected many Lightning Immunes were causing troubles, so I replaced my Prayer merc with a Might merc and replaced his Inisght Poleaxe with a more hurty Insight stick. I decided to see how much better this worked so I returned to Hell and started teleporting around looking for monsters for me Merc to beat down, that's when I stumbled across Bishibosh and his crew. Prepared I would have be able to handle them easily, but as it was I was just goofing around testing out my merc, I don't think I even had my left hand on the keyboard (probably was holding a drink of some sort) so she is smeared.

Meh, easily replaced.

Was using my sorc to run baal to help a friend level our enchanter and this was probably our 11th game. Checking the levels of different people entering the game, all clear. Guy leaves and comes back with an 83 sorc, hostiles, we lag, we die. Account name is *Panda.inc and it was the most obvious TPPK. The instant he joined I opened a tp for myself and before I could do anything else I'm dead. Never saw the attack at all. Die in a fire hackers.

Cause of demise: I joined a Hell Baal run looking to get a kill. There were 3 people there, a druid (who I knew was a bmpk member) a bo barb and a sorceress. I was going to go for the sorceress. Just as I shoot at her she teleports away to kill a monster. She teleports back, and then half a second later I see the Deeds screen, then I hear the hostile sound, I check out the Ice Blast that went through me and I see "Pianist was slain by G_Virus"...

I was using a program that auto-loots everyone, so the barb (who was their friend) went to loot me but I left before he could. I quit Diablo that night. =]

I had like 250 kills before that in the 2 months of hardcore play I had (including the 2 weeks I just had my PvM javazon). Oh well.

Was playing in a public act 2 game to run the cow level, meph and baal and maybe get a bit more drops. I was partied with the guys in act 2 but didn't notice that there was a lvl 77 amazon in their ranks. So I was walking down the worldstone, I see someone show up on the minimap. Obviously I pressed P to check her level as soon as she appeared on my map since she was partied, and I was ready to hit alt-f4. She was wearing no visible gear and came up to me and said ''bo me''. Seeing nothing dangerous there, I switch to my +warcry spears and start bo-ing. I just had the time to call a battle command and she shoots a guided arrow out of nowhere and hostiles. I NEVER saw her bow. Is that some sort of hack? Most likely she had the bow on switch and the script/hack she was using allowed to switch/shoot/tp/hostile... I was stupid to just not leave when I checked level.

Scratch one frenzy barb.

Me and two friends were into our third Baal run. One went afk and I was messing around at Shenk. Had both my Valk and Merc out in front of me. Both of them veered to the lower terrain below Shenk somehow. Anyway my resist weren't too hot and I pumped D/E/A all too high. I got strafed locked as well. I saw my 915 take a massive hit, and I actually did eat a full. The second hit was deeds though because I got stung by a few lightning bolts as well. Lost a couple skill/lifers and a few decent small and large charms. But I still have the gear at least!

I stopped by travical on the way to Mephisto. I was doing nice damage, the mercenary was spamming lightning everywhere (I tried to be different, trying to get a mage merc viable >.<), and my bear was soaking up the hits. I shot firestorm and fissure everywhere, taking down everything but one. Geleb Flamefinger runs in, and takes down my spirit with his lightning thingy. With the spirit gone, my bear was weakened, leaving him open for the whipping of his life. With no spirit, no bear, and little fire resistance, Geleb's death "blast" took me down wth a nasty spattering of flaming gore. Lovely stuff. First HC death.

I was in a andy game and we played until act2 arcane sanctuary and we did the second rout, well it ended up in a treasure area and we all picked the stuff up, i forgot i had a good sorc staff and there was a fire sorc there and i wanted her to keep it but there was another sorc a cold 1 and she was starting to shoot frozen ball and i was like (i think i should run) and the instant i was geting a tp POW deeds... and to top it with a cherry i let that sorc loot me. . . . (good bye perfect bloodfist).

I always kept hearing about the TPPK, but that it was mostly in NM.
I was Baaling with some ppl, and there was a lvl 90 sorc, which wasnt a big deal, because i've actually been in some baal runs with that sorc before.
This time she orbs, tele's to the portal, and hostiles before i can do anything.

Had alot of gold too, (they got it, and even said "oh, got alot of gold") :grrrr:

Well.. was helping friend on act 3 before and then had idea, "Let's do izual". Journey started nicely going from city of the damned towards plains of despair, once we found the stairs I noticed my skeles got behind so I switched to my telecharged staff and teled to bottom of the stairs so we'd be ready for the lords that were waiting for us. Moment later I notice my health drops down to 1/10, I drink rejuvenation pot but before I know, first ever bnet deeds screen shows up and all I can say is damn.. Luckily person who I met on these forums (illskillz) looted my body, thanks to him I can rebuilt my trangoularmor-umeslament summoner!

Basically I was trying to do some mephy MF runs with my summoner, i was experimenting with a tele staff as well. It was going pretty smoothly, I had my army tearin it up, and i was using the staff on switch to re group my minions every now and then. I ran through a door straight into a boss pack of maulers and dolls, 2 or 3 skellies kept them occupied while i switched and teled to the corner of the room to re group the whole army, I then (thought) i had re switched back to my wand.......but I hadnt, I went to cast amp dmg on the boss pack and teled right in there.........hours of work over in seconds. Lost everything, it was my first HC char as well. RIP Eminence.
