WWI Teaser Solved?

Posted 23rd Jun 2008 05:27 PM by Elly

Nkara, her of keen eye and inquisitive mind looks to have solved the splash image currently gracing Blizzard’s site which we reported on earlier.  It appears a rune from an image for Lich King is also present on the splash.

The portion from the WWI Splash is from the left hand side.

Blizzard often offer a series of splashes on the run-up to an event and if we took this image to mean WWI is all about Lich King that’d leave Stracraft 2 out the picture and that’s definitely not the case.  If this is the rune from Lich King take it as meaning Lich King is at the event, not that nothing else is (read Diablo 3).  Hey, come on, I’m trying to keep the hope alive here. Work with me on this.

Source: Worldofwar.net

Update: Doing at admirable job at keeping the hope alive Davidus and jlane both point out that the rune doesn’t look dissimilar to a Shael rune as seen in the image below.

I can certainly see the similarity but I’d have to say the splash image is slightly more like the Lich King than the Shael but when you’re using runic artwork in both games it’s that much harder to decipher where it’s from.

The only thing I can say we do know for sure is that we don’t know for sure.

Can’t someone post a quick summary from the site.  I can’t see it as I don’t have an account and I don’t want to make one just to see one post - I have my principles you know.

You don’t need an account to view the website or forums, well you shouldn’t.

WE TURN OFF GUEST ACCESS DURING BUSY PERIODS SUCH AS PATCH AND MAINTENANCE DAYS TO KEEP THE FORUMS RUNNING AS FAST AS POSSIBLE FOR MEMBERS.

Should I take a screenshot?

Nah, I had the link going to the news forum which we have shut off on the WoW site. I’ve since changed it to go directly the news post which I should have done to begin with. I was caught up in the drama of it all and messed up smile

That symbol was the first thing i noticed.  However, look closer. The entire background has red symbols (looks horadric if you ask me) very similar to the red symbols you see in the act 2 cinematic in tal rasha’s tomb.  Not sure about the blue though, perhaps the worldstone.

Solved? Not even close!

This image isn’t so far away from Diablo! How about changing it a little? Just because its called “ice”; it doesn’t mean it should be blue (what’s the color of the ice you drink?)! Actually, a LOT of hidden things can be seen if you invert the colors.

Here’s a link to some changes I made:

Inverted colors: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a141/SirRomanDragon/ice1_Inverted_colors.jpg

You should see a LOT of hidden runes! somes of those seems diablo-ish, more then warcraft-ish. Make some fun trying to find more out!

An example: a cross: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a141/SirRomanDragon/cross.jpg

As darkseid1212 pointed it out, that rune is inserted in a face! See it here: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a141/SirRomanDragon/Face.jpg

And also, as long as I’m here, I make a version with “high relief” (I don’t know if it’s like that in english, sorry). It really seem closer to a worldstone this way.

Here’s the link: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a141/SirRomanDragon/ice1_high_relief.jpg

That’s it for now… Crack your brains out!

Hey guys,

I made a image comparing the shael rune and Lich King symbol with the symbol we see in the teaser. All three are very similar, however there are two distinct big things the shael has in common with the teaser image.

The shael and the teaser symbol both go straight down from the top before branching out on both sides. On the Lich King sword it branches off almost immediatly at the top.

Secondly, the Shael and teaser symbol both slightly go south east (slightly, more south.) While the Lich king symbol goes the complete opposite way, forming somewhat of a “y”.

Anyway.. just what I thought, maybe I’m just holding on to everything we have left for a chance of a Diablo 3 announcement :D

I am really surprised about you Elly and Flux. You are following blizzard for so long (probably longer than me) and still you don’t know how to interpret blizzard clues. You made an excellent article about d3 rumors but now you seem to have lost faith. It is definately NOT WoTLK and here is why…

a) Blizzard never made a teaser for an already announced project
b) Blizzard never made a teaser for an expansion
c) Blizzard ALWAYS made teasers for NEW and BIG games.

So even if somehow the image had big letters saying "WoLTK beta is coming" i would still be convinced it’s NOT WoLTK.

That doesnt mean it is diablo 3 (although it is what makes the most sense), it could be something else BUT NOT WoLTK.

In WWI project hydra will be announced. Here is why…

Check this: http://www.peterconcept.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=32
3 thumbnails added yesterday: Starcraft, warcraft and ... Hydra: coming soon!
Now check the mainpage: http://www.peterconcept.com/
It says :

PETERCONCEPT.COM is under construction.

It will be BACK UP ON 6-28-08

28/06/2008 is the date the wwi starts. I think it’s obvious that project hydra will be reavealed at wwi smile

And i dont understand why "ice" is tied to the warcraft universe only. I mean many parts of ACT 5 in d2 had ice. Frozen tundra, frozen river etc. Anyway, HAVE FAITH!
