Splash Take 2

The splash screen at Blizzard has changed ever so slightly. The crack in the centre has become larger so more light now pours through but more interestingly, from our point of view, another rune has appeared. This time it is a Hel Rune which you can clearly see in the image below.

Here is a list of Runes if you’d like to compare this and any future embellishments.

Also, the previous set of runes (on the right) was Amn and Shael, and together they make the ICE runeword in Diablo. The first rune looks like HEL, maybe they’re referring to HELL.

I would just like to point out that when they announced world of warcraft, everybody started out thinking it was a starcraft announcement because they started the splash images way out in space overlooking a planet.

this is most definately a diablo announcement.

I have been a fan and follower of Blizzard since Diablo I. The Hel rune in my mind affirms the impending announcement of D3. I knew in my heart that when all this hype about it, some of which Blizzard got directly involved in(Diablo3.com deal for one), started up D3 was coming. I will throw out the disclaimer that I could be wrong, and reality know nothing for certain. Blizzard doenst do crap like this though. I assure you every move they make is carefully calculated. This has all been well planned and none of it is coincedence. WOOT!!

I dunno, looking closely at the first symbol in Paint, the symbol there matches with the Frostmourne much closer than the Shael rune, or the Um rune I originally thought it could be. The lower curve was much more visible in Paint that in the close-up image provided in the main article for these images on this site, and that (to me) makes it look almost identical to the Frostmourne’s symbol.

I suppose the third symbol will really settle it. It would be interesting if the next one was from Starcraft. Maybe they’ll give a symbol twice from each game to keep the mystery going, and I’m sure that the creature(?) revealed in the other images could be construed as belonging to either Diablo 3 (perhaps another icy area like Act IV) or to Frozen Throne, so that might not even settle it.

But I could be wrong.
