Painted Diablo III Overthrown Diorama Unveiled

Posted 12th Jun 2009 01:19 PM by Medievaldragon

As promised last week, Sideshow Collectibles has unveiled the fully painted version of the Diablo III Overthrown Polystone Diorama and it just looks awesome.  The pre-order pages have been disabled, but they plan to re-launch them on June 18 with various photos of the diorama from different angles.  Stay tuned for further updates on our front page.  In the meantime, Sideshow Collectibles is offering a Wallpaper in four sizes. Read our recent interview with Sideshow CEO Greg Anzalone and Production Manager Brant Bridges.

Reminds me of a buffed-up Tommy Chong, in the best possible way.

Looks awesome. I like very much all the small details the painter put into it. Precisely the reason I would love for them to also offer unpainted versions.

June 18th, my Birthday.

Something always happens on my birthday, gotta love blind luck.

It’s always either something related to Muse (british rock band) or something else I’m a rabid fan of…

This year is no different.

It has no WoW-style shoulder pads because if they were to put those on they would run out of clay!!!

I just hope there will be cheap (and affordable) plastic toys too.  Flagship did this with the WETA studio-made HGL statues, and they were gorgeous, and like $1000 each. I never even considered buy that, while I’d have happily paid $10 or $15 for plastic figures. (Which I’d regret now, but at the time…)

I still have my diablo action figure standing atop a bookshelf (moved from my monitor top when a flatscreen made that impossible) and it’s about the best $10 I ever spent for a piece of artwork. I think developers get an ego boost and an epeen for huge, detailed statues of their works, and they are indeed neat, but the vast, vast majority of fans will never do more than glance at pictures of these statues.  While most of us would look, with eager purchasing ideas, at similar coverage of plastic miniatures.

Hell, I’d have bought little plastic versions of the Wiz, WD, and Barb already, if they were available for purchase.
