Mock D3 Box Art

Posted 15th Oct 2009 10:03 PM by Flux

A fan found a couple of cool mock D3 box arts from VGBoxArt.com. We’ve added them to the gallery, and inserted them below. They’re almost real enough to run your fingers (tongue?) over the screen and imagine how someday… someday… the precious…. *cough*

Ow, is this a “6.5 GB” or “65 GB Hard Disk space” on the right one? :-D

As much as we would all love 65GB of content, it's more than likely 6.5GB. Also, Bashiok has better be taking notes for the box art on the right. That is sick as HELL. The left one, not so much. At all.

The collector’s is pure awesomeness!
The common one on the left, is cool, but it has the Microsoft Ensemble studios logo on the back side raspberry
How can that be?

Anyone notice the pretty obvious crib from HolyKnight3000’s “Fiery Runes” circle on that box? Actually, there’s some official Blizzard art I’ve seen that seems to lift from his work too. Hmmm…

Sorry to disappoint you, HK, but that looks a lot more like the Hellgate London rune circle: http://hellgate.incgamers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=543&cat=514

yeah i noticed that too. I love how the fan artist made the detail of the limited edition. I plan to buy the special edition of d3 when it comes out.

Another big issue in terms of “accuracy” is the box for the regular edition.  This title obviously will not be a GFW-Live enabled game as Diablo III will be connected to Battle.net 2.0 and its system, whatever that might entail (achievements, etc.).

Now, it still might have the GFW label but I doubt even that as Blizzard doesn’t need any help in terms of brand awareness.

The collector’s edition just knocked me back in my chair! :D Man, seeing the box makes it seem so much more real, so much closer (even a fake one); but it’s still soooo far away…

If I may point out a detail (or five), the rating logo and the fiery runes would probably not be intergrated like this because the surface of the box wouldn’t be the usual sleek plastic wrapping, but instead kind of a bas-relief, like WotLK’s collector’s edition.

If the limited edition would look like that, I’ll probably buy two copies… I hope someone at Blizzard sees this great box!

*sigh…whishes it was 2011*

The one on the left looks cool enough if you take off the silly Windows bar on top (I still prefer the one on the right though), but anyone who’s followed Diablo from the beginning knows that we’re going to see Big D on the cover, not pictures of the player characters.

And anyone who's followed Blizzard will know it's gonna be a Mac/PC hybrid. As a Mac guy, not only do they create fantastic games, Blizz's support for BOTH operating systems get my loyalty and support through and through.

I like the collectors. I fancy the idea of it looking like a book, an old hardback tome.

I like the right box better, but there is one thing that I love about the left box, the quote from Gameinformer: “One of the years most anticipated game is a success”  should be “One of the year[‘s] most anticipated game[s] is a success”. Made me laugh :D
