Larger Stash in D2 v1.13

Posted 14th May 2009 10:57 PM by Flux

Information on D2 changes and future plans continues to remain scarce, but Bashiok did drop a little hint about a v1.13 patch change With appropriate disclaimers, of course.

Blizzard Quote:
It’s coming along. We’re still in the process of refining and testing the changes going into the patch. Work is progressing, we haven’t stopped working on it or anything like that.

As far as information of what’s being changed in the patch, almost anything we’re working on now could be removed. Testing could deem any change unworkable and we’d have to remove it. By releasing any information on possible changes we’d be raising expectations that the change is guaranteed to make it in, no matter how many disclaimers we place on it. That said, one change we’re planning is to increase the stash size to 12x10. As I said it is in no way a guaranteed change. Any number of reasons could mean it will not make it into the final patch. But enjoy the breadcrumb maybe?

I judge that this change will be universally-welcomed since every D2 mod since 2001 has had this feature. If you’re wondering what this looks like, here’s a comparison. Regulation D2 on the left, a shot from Brother Laz’s Median mod on the right. And his mod’s stash, which looks cavernous compared to D2’s, is only 10x10!

Holy, that’s 72 extra spaces. Looking good.
That’s 2.5 times bigger than what we have now.

This is indeed a nice change, hopefully they’ll keep it once the patch goes live.

Really nice change indeed, I just wish they would add in a “shared page” like in the Median Mod. You can always dream, right? wink Wouldn’t be surprised if they would, though.

VERY nice change! What excites me the most about this feature though, is that Blizz obviously learned a lesson of some sort from the muling and decided to address it by enlarging the stash. This is almost a guarantee that D3 will feature a significantly larger stash, and thats why this is great news.

If they want to do it perfectly, D3’s stash should be shared between characters on the same account. That would be awesome smile

This leads me to believe that 1.13 is the final patch for Diablo 2..

I might play D2 again just to see this implemented.
At the peak of my DiabloIILoD-ness I had at least 4 accounts with at least 4 mules each.

I think another cool feature would be possibility of item transfer between characters, most welcome in TQ and much needed in D2, be it for twinking or simply cleaning up/sorting stuff.

I’m going to check this out asap, it totally looks good.

I always thought it was funny that for a game that’s 100% gear-centric, the stash was so ridiculously small.
