Sideshow Diablo Statue Revealed: On Sale SoonPosted 29 November 2012 by Flux
Back in July taking pre-orders in just two days of the Sideshow Diablo statue, which still looked pretty awesome even in an unfinished, unpainted form. The finished model has now been revealed, and just in time since they’re going to start amazing Barbarian statue:
The Diablo Statue will be available for Pre-Order through the Sideshow Newsletter on Thursday, November 29th, 2012, which is typically published between 2PM and 3PM (Pacific Time). For those of you who can’t wait to see the full reveal of this Diablo III collectible, we’re posting the product gallery and info a bit early (see below).
The Diablo Statue will be priced at $349.99 and will have payment plans available. Make sure you log into your newsletter account on November 29th, 2012 to secure this piece for your collection.
They’ve released some photos which you can see here, but these are still sort of a preview, and we’ll get better pictures and more product details once the ordering process goes live later this week. We can at least tell that the statue is huge and wildly-detailed, comparable to the Diablo 2 statue they released back in 2009. That one was the size of a house cat, though not nearly so easily-entertained by a piece of string.
Is merch. Has want? I think I want, though not enough to actually buy it. If I had one I do know that I’d put my old Diablo 2 statue on his back, like a Flayer piggyback shaman.
Incidentally, why don’t we get those type of affordable plastic toys for Diablo III? Not many of us are going to drop $350 on a huge damn statue, (and they only make a few hundred of them in the limited production anyway) but a lot of us would pay $15 for a hand-sized plastic toy of our favorite class, or some cool demon. I get the feeling these huge statues are more about the merch-peens of various Blizzard employees (they got their own employee version of the Barbarian Overthrown statues back in 2009) who want a huge, impressive artwork, than about creating merchandise that fans actually want and will pay for.
