Diablo II Patch 1.13 To Be On Public Test Realms Before Deployment

Posted 2nd May 2009 12:23 AM by Medievaldragon

Bashiok has delivered good hints on when to expect the upcoming Diablo II patch 1.13 and something else you would love to participate in.  There is no release date, but he confirmed players will be able to test patch 1.13 to offer feedback on all the features and to report bugs—which means the final patch release will be more much clean and stable thanks to players participating in the Public Test Realm. We do get a hint of when patch 1.13 will go live.  Blizzard will announce a Diablo II ladder reset two weeks in advance, which heralds the release of the patch on live realms.

Blizzard Quote:
Bashiok: So yeah, we’re still working on the patch. It’s coming along really well. We’re getting there. I can’t give an estimate or date, we’re expecting there to be a good amount of testing required due to the types of changes being made. We want to take our time and put out a solid patch, and that means we don’t have a release date right now.

Some exciting news - and it also may be some comfort - due to the types of changes we’re making we will be offering the Diablo II 1.13 patch for testing and feedback on a test realm before its release. We’ll have more information about how you’ll be able to help test it in the coming weeks.

To quote Tom Petty, “The waiting is the hardest part.”

I wish we had some idea of when we would get a substantive content update as well. Without the WWI this year (what’s up with that?) there’s no point we can definitely look forward to news at except Blizzcon. In six months the new information we have boils down to two or three enemy types.

Very enticing info from Bashiok, no doubt!

Such type of procedures as he is announcing can only mean this will be the mother of patches with lots of additions or deep changes to the game. I just hope this time, finally, single players get served in full too.

Very wise of them to make a statement, it was getting pretty embarrassing on their part. Of course this doesn’t fix the problems that bnet is having now (since announcing ladder reset w/ patch economy and players are dropping like flies because they will have to start over anyways.) but does offer some of those who are patiently waiting assurance.

btw, who cares about single player…just make changes to ladder and most people will be happy.

I care about single player. If they introduce good stuff in this patch, I might take the time to play through Diablo 2 again. In my own pace.

Tal-Rasha - hope you were kidding there. I’m a single-player fan as well, and I think there are more of us…

I definitely want this patch to distribute the goodies to us evenly, including the Pandemonium event and Diablo Clone.

It would be interesting if this was something more than just a lot of new items, rune words, and so on. Although I don’t really expect it to surpass Patch 1.10 in terms of revatilizing the game. I’d be happy to be wrong though!

idk jugalator, i dont remember the other patches getting their own beta realm to test for bugs and shit. i think (or want to think) that they are going to make the game better. and nerf some obvious builds.

oh and uh SP players how do u expect to do the uber trist event? specially if they nerf dins? (LOL single player hdin) gonna play through and get uber smite gear?

I wonder if they’ll test anything in 1.13 that they might use in D3….

Seems as though we won’t see the patch for at least a couple more months.  Fudge.

Im pretty sure this patch is going to add more then just content. I have a feeling they will expand the storyline just a bit so that we find out how Diablo comes back for the 3rd part. After all, this patch has to keep us busy for at the very very least another 14 months (june 2010 release).

Remember the last patch was 1.12a. Maybe they scrapped that idea to work on a 1.12B and decided to work on a big 1.13 instead. I wouldn’t be surprised if this patch was being worked on ever since the reveal of Diablo 3 back in June…
