Conspiracy Theory Time

Posted 2nd Jul 2008 11:51 AM by Flux

Is the archangel Tyrael in league with the forces of hell? Is he under their control? It’s a long running and popular theory amongst fans who take interest in the Diablo world’s plot and background story, and forum user Sectoid might have found some evidence of it sitting in plain site; in a massive graphic on the official D3 site?

In a less believable conspiracy theory, this telegenic-fellow claims to have an advance copy of Diablo III, he’s promising to post a great deal of footage at some point, and he’s making a lot of long, talk-filled You Tube videos about it. His “proof” is quite scanty; he occasionally angles the camera to show his monitor screen, but since all the scenes he’s shown thus far are straight out of the WWI gameplay movie, it’s less than convincing. The first video is embedded below, you can see the others in the related links section of the You Tube page.

What a crock of crap.

As you say, the play is the same shown at WWI. It’s actually the footage from the show.  Here’s a good point to take a snapshot which I’ve cropped, just as they retire to the steps after killing the pack of Dark Cultists.

Also Blizzard aren’t going to E3 as he claims.

On the flip side I do feel sorry for this guy.  Not sure if his illness claim is also a lie but it’s a shame to see folk in this state. It gets worse as it goes on when he starts discussing Blizzard bringing him in as a consultant and his suggestions being implemented.  Especially the Iraq angle.  Cringetastic.

Also, the Make-a-Wish foundation grants wishes EXCLUSIVELY for those below the age of 18, which is non-negotiable.

Wow, watching that actually pissed me off a bit.
I pretty much stopped paying attention at the end there.

Of course it is fake.  That is not in question.  I am really impressed with his filmmaking skills. (not his acting).

Throughout the video, you can see where he edited his monologue and it was witty at times.  Like when he said "I called make a wish…but I already cranked called them once.."

He used Final Cut, Avid or Vegas or something to edit the gameplay video and put a "menu" on it and that "clink" sound when he paused it was a nice touch.

Creative at least.

Um, don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble, but the "three statues" on the D3 site are just the statues for the Life and Mana orbs along with a mini-D in the middle. I don’t think the Life and Mana orb guys were ever intended to stand for anyone.

Y’all oughta hide his face behind the (...more…) cut.  I watched about twenty seconds of the video before it, and his voice, made me want to break things.

Another clear indication of this being fake: Every time you lie or think with the creative part of your mind, your eyeballs will go to the upper right hand corner of your eyes. As any professional who deals with the human mind will tell you. It’s true in 99% of the cases, and no question it’s true in this case, where his’ eyeballs dart to the upper right hand corner nearly every time he mentions D3!!!...
