It’s not a series that appeals to me from what I know of it (which admittedly isn’t much), although I do like a good shooter. I prefer something grittier like Quake Wars which I’ve been playing a lot of recently.  They did SC Ghost of course which was a shooter so it wouldn’t be completely new to them and I’m sure there are plenty of devs in the company who have worked on the shooter genre at some point.  If this does turn out to be the 5th title, on the face of it, I’m not cracking open the bubbly just yet.

Please God no….. No rednecks, I remember that PC game and man if they honestly create something based off of that I will puke. There are SO MANY better ideas and IP’s that they could create. Leave Redneck where it was buried, in the bargin used PC game section at those old PC game shops that no longer exist!!!!

There is no worth in that title, shooting chickens and fat ugly redneckers. I played that game for the first 10 minutes and was like wow….. Its a crappy FPS. I mean who really wants to play as rednecks???? Please Blizzard, please just let this slip away.

You know, you guys could do something cool as another RPG, look at what BioWare is doing w/ Dragon Age. Why not do something thats still fantasy based but has a different twist.

The only way I can see a Redneck Blizz game is a racer. Think Wacky Wheels, Mario Kart and Destruction Derby only with Blizzard’s A+ quality and B+ sense of humor.

I still think its a waste, the game never really did that well. I don’t know why Blizzard would throw money away on it to even purchase the rights.

I’m really curious to find out more info on the MMO and stuff be intersting to see if they try something totally new.

On further thought I wouldn’t mind seeing the Redneck couple as easter-eggs in the original Blizzard IPs. Especially in SC, Terrans are basically “Cowboys/Rednecks in Space” after all.

considering it takes them years to work on a game. and then release an expansion a year later. Im pretty positive they are definetly working on an expansion as well. Storyline for sure

Well… I remember playing Redneck Rampage a long time ago when I was a kid. I wasnt as critic and as picky as I am nowdays but I thought it was a fine shooter but anyway I liked anything that reminded me of Duke Nukem 3D (which is my love in terms of FPS, still not bested by any shooter imo).

Jay Wilson was the game designer of “Blood” another game which used the Duke Nukem engine and it was a good game. Jay could have been the one to suggest this title probably he was a fan of the game as he was always very fond of Duke Nukem as well.

Its highly possible that the unannounced project is a Shooter. SC ghost was already near the genre and its one of the genres that Blizzard doesnt have the monopoly upon, so they might want to try it. Is Redneck Rampage the best choice? I dont think so but hey, those “quirky choices” from big and wise companies like Blizzard usually end up doing better than expected. Whatever they plan to do with Redneck Ramapage, it certainly gotta be something over the top and not take itself seriously at all. As wacky as RR was it still seemed to have a dark tone within the original game which seemed to be out of touch with the ridiculous setting and enemies.

As for shooters, I would not be surprised if the 5th Bliz secret title is one. SC Ghost, and I know a lot of the guys there like shooters. I remember talking to some of them at E3 in 1999 or 2000 about how much they wanted to do a shooter. I doubt that interest has diminished in the decade since.

I remember blood!! that was a really fun game. I cant believe Jay Wilson worked on that…This makes things more interesting indeed!!

Great, a couple of dickweeds in the mailroom used to work on Redneck Rampage, so Blizzard has to buy it? Oh how wonderful. Please God let this be the end of it. If they release World of Rednecks, I’m gonna have to rethink my opinion of them.
